Tickets Available For Spartan Football Awards Banquet

The Spartan Football Awards Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Holiday Inn South/Convention Center in Lansing, Mich. A reception begins at 4:30 p.m. with the dinner, player introductions and awards program to follow at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the Spartan Football Awards Banquet are priced at $45 each, with tables of 10 available for $450.

Reservations can be made by sending a check, payable to Michigan State University, to: Spartan Football Awards Banquet, 135 Duffy Daugherty Building, East Lansing, MI 48824. For additional information regarding the awards banquet, contact the MSU Football Office at (517) 355-1647.

Three Spartans Earn First-Team All-Big Ten Honors

Three Michigan State players have been named first-team All-Big Ten by the league's head coaches: senior running back Javon Ringer, senior safety Otis Wiley and sophomore linebacker Greg Jones. The three first-team all-conference selections mark the most for the Spartans since five players received first-team honors in 1999. A total of 15 Spartans received All-Big Ten recognition on the first team, second team or honorable mention.

No. 17 Michigan State Falls at No. 7 Penn State

Daryll Clark threw for career-highs of 341 yards and four touchdowns and a stingy defense held Javon Ringer to a season-low 42 yards as the No. 7 Nittany Lions clinched BCS bid with a 49-18 victory against No. 17 Michigan State on Saturday.

Several Michigan State football players, including Brian Hoyer, Javon Ringer and Greg Jones, met with the media after Tuesday's practice to talk about the matchup against Penn State. In other news, junior Trevor Anderson was named to the midseason watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top defensive end. Anderson leads the team and ranks sixth in the Big Ten with a career-high eight sacks (64 yards).

Several members of the Michigan State football team met with the media after practice Thursday to talk about the bye week and the upcoming game at Penn State Nov. 22.

In other news, Javon Ringer was named one of 15 "Players to Watch" for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the fourth-oldest individual college football award in the nation. Ringer, who leads the nation in rushing yards (1,548), carries (353), touchdowns (20) and scoring (120 points), is also a semifinalist for the Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards.
