Spartans Ready For Ford Field Showdown

Michigan State will face unanimous No. 1 North Carolina in the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Spartans own a Big Ten-best 5-3 record in the challenge, including a 2-0 mark against the Tar Heels. The game is Michigan State's second ever at Ford Field, site of the 2009 Final Four. MSU and UNC are meeting for the third time in the last five seasons.

Michigan State men's soccer senior Doug DeMartin and women's soccer freshman Laura Heyboer were each named semifinalists for the -Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Awards. Each is one of 15 student-athletes to be nominated for both the men's and women's awards. The awards are considered the nation's most prestigious college soccer honors.

No. 21 Spartans to Face Georgia Tech in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

The Michigan State women's basketball team will take part in the second-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, when it travels to Atlanta, Ga. to take on Georgia Tech (5-2) at 4:15 p.m. The Spartans are ranked No. 21 in the AP poll and enter the game at 6-1 on the season.

Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo held his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon to preview the match-up against top-ranked North Carolina. The Spartans (4-1) and Tar Heels (7-0) meet Wednesday at Ford Field in Detroit; the game will be televised on ESPN beginning at 9:15 p.m.

Chuck a Puck to Fight Children's Cancer

Michigan State hockey's "Shoot for a Cure" initiative will feature two events at the Spartans' game on Dec. 6 against the University of Michigan. It's a chance to get Spartan Hockey memorabilia for your favorite fan for the upcoming holidays, as well as donate to a worthy cause - the fight against children's cancer. Saturday's game will feature the first of two "Chuck-a-Puck" games this season.

Vanessa King, Natalie Emro Recognized by Big Ten

Three Michigan State volleyball student-athletes earned postseason recognition from the Big Ten Conference as announced by the conference office Monday. Junior middle blocker Vanessa King (Spring Lake, Mich.) was named to the 12-member All-Big Ten Team, while freshman setter Natalie Emro (Wildwood, Mo.) was an unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. The Spartans' lone senior Heather McDaniel (Madison Heights, Mich.) was Michigan State's representative of the Big Ten Volleyball Sportsmanship Award.

Kendle Wins Title At Mat Town Open

Three Spartans Named First-Team All-Big Ten

Three Michigan State players have been named first-team All-Big Ten by the league's head coaches: senior running back Javon Ringer, senior safety Otis Wiley and sophomore linebacker Greg Jones. The three first-team all-conference selections mark the most for the Spartans since five players received first-team honors in 1999. A total of 15 Spartans received All-Big Ten recognition on the first team, second team or honorable mention.
